Hummingbirds are symbolic in many cultures. They represent infinity, the enjoyment of life and lightness of being and they have many attributes that align with the practice of yoga.
Hummingbirds with their striking colors, are unmistakably beautiful. They are often called "flying jewels" or "gems of nature."
Yoga is the exploration of one's inner beauty.
Symbolizes the enjoyment of life and lightness of being
Irridescence - their plumage can look dull and dark from one angle and then brilliant and colorful from another.
Energetic, yet masters of energetic expenditures
Flower to flower, it searches for the sweetness of life.
"The hummingbird competes with the stillness of the air."
Self-exploration of our own inner jewel
Livng in the moment, lightness of being
We, too, can explore brilliant and colorful side as well as our dull and dark side
Through yoga, we can consider how we expend our own energy
It's about the journey
Our personal search for stillness and ease
It is the intersection of my passions! I volunteer as a wildlife rehabilitator with the Wildlife Center of Silicon Valley, specializing in hummingbirds and birds of prey.
On average, I care for over 150 hummingbirds each year.
